I had the exciting opportunity to interview Aubrey Elizabeth the founder of Aubrey Elizabeth Apothecary, a fun and quirky line of bath and body goods including faux food soaps. When asked what inspired her to create food inspired soaps like her famed soapsicles, Aubrey, explained as a total foodie she naturally drifted towards making cupcake and ice cream soaps. Aubrey says, “It’s what I love… and if I can have both a real treat and a soap treat in the shower, I’m a happy camper. “
Aubrey creates her faux food spa-licious treats working with “glycerin soap. The soap-making process involves melting down the soap, coloring and adding fragrance, molding them and then assembling the final soap just so.” Aubrey treats each soap like it’s the first and last one she will ever make with hope that her extra detail and care shines through to each of her customers. She says “I like things that have a lot of detail with a little quirkiness thrown in, so most of my soaps take a lot of time and attention.”
Be on the lookout for Aubrey’s favorite offering the cleverly scented ginger fizz,sushi soap gift set. With a huge sushi addiction this option was a must as part of her collection. “The authentic sushi container really puts the cherry on top!” As far as her favorite scents go, her favorites seem to change on a daily basis. “Anything different like Red Velvet Cake seems to perk my nose.” Aubrey says.
The most popular items in the Aubrey Elizabeth Apothecary collection include cinnamon bun soaps, sugar lip scrubs and zombie soap sandwiches. But popularity changes seasonally and based on the holidays. Recently with Father’s Day mini beer mug soaps were flying off the shelves.
